March Activities and Acknowledgements #siletokuhle
We
tremendously began our year with a lot of activities and new members. We have
had several donors from those that have always been donating to us and new
donors that are coming from different sides of the province. Please don’t be
discouraged from supporting our acknowledgments; we would appreciate any type
of help. There are never enough hands to keep the eThekwini community well-fed
and healthy.
Our
eThekwini family keeps expanding. We are feeding over 200 people a day. We have
also got several volunteers from the eThekwini family. However, helpers can
never be enough. For those that want to assist, you are free to contact us or
visit us at our residence. As we have mentioned, we have interns from Urban Improvements Precincts (UIP) who
are assisting us with different types of works and activities. The interns are stationed
at our premises for an unknown period. They
are collecting information from homeless people, assisting with feeding, and
cleaning at our premises. We appreciate their assistance and help; they are supporting
us to reach our goals in serving society.

We
also received a donation from the Point Butchery, donated through the UIP. The
donations were of much help. Kindly see the picture below.
Recent activities
On
Wednesday, we received another donation from UIP of different food items, such
as rice, tissues, and salt. The pictures below will give a vivid image of the
donations and the stakeholders involved. Mr. Vadachia gave a speech informing
about the goals and objectives of the organization. We can never thank everyone
enough for the assistance.
It is a genuine pleasure to express our deep sense of
thanks and gratitude to all our supporters, donors, and stakeholders. The
organisation is what it is because of all of you. Failure to acknowledge all of
you in these blogs does not mean we do not appreciate and acknowledge your
assistance. Many of you have supported the organisation from the beginning, and
we appreciate that.
Update on current issues
Last but not least, we would like to edge the whole
community to spread awareness and to practice hygiene during these trying
times. Stay aware of the latest information on
the COVID-19 outbreak, available on the WHO Website and the NICD South Africa
website and follow these measures to protect yourself and others:
- Wash
your hands frequently and thoroughly (at least 20 seconds of scrubbing)
with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Practice
social distancing by maintaining at least 1-metre distance between
yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
- Avoid
touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Practice
respiratory hygiene by covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow
or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue
immediately.
- If
you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early,
and avoid contact with others. Please self-quarantine and contact
emergency services.
Prevention
is key to containing this once in a century pandemic, and it is important to
take care of your health and protect yourself and others from contracting or
spreading viruses and illnesses.
