Silethokhuhle Organisation 2020 Misison and Projects

As we begin the new year (2020 year), Silethokhuhle Organisation (hereinafter referred to as the Organisation) would like to thank you all for your kind support and assistance in the past years. The Organisation would not have been able to be where it is today without the aid of the eThekwini community and various stakeholders. Our mission remains the same, which is to assist the community in whatever way we can and which is in our means. However, 2020 will start with different projects, including recycling, cleanups and gardening.

Aims and Objectives
Since May 2013, the Organisation continues to feed homeless people, children, and the elderly around Durban at our residence, which is at ERF 10023 Victoria Embankment, Durban, 4001. There are also other activities, such as counselling and life skill programmes that we offer. People who rely on food, shelter, and counselling from the Organisation are increasing on a daily bases. The Organisation feeds an average of over 200 people a day. This is a large number that requires more volunteers (human resources), food, and utensils such as spoons, plates, and pots. The Organisation seeks to increase the number of people it feeds and introduce new projects to sustain the community and the Organisation.

Projects
Our new programme for 2020 will be a recycling project. As we have all seen that as humans, we are failing to take care of our surrounding environment through littering while we have bins nearby. This has brought serious concerns in cities and wildlife also. There is severe pollution around the city of Durban through litter, especially plastic. Plastic has serious harm to society and animals. There is considerable pollution of plastic in the ocean, which has led to various campaigns for awareness. Lately, they have been a campaign to ban straws, plastic bags, and other related plastics from restaurants and food courts. The Organisation would like to assist the community by keeping it clean and also our ocean. We are yet to get further information about our location for cleaning up and recycling. The project is expected to run for a year until 2021 March. The programme is in partnership with the Urban Improvements Precincts (UIP). We will be updating you further about the project.
The Organisation is reviving agriculture projects which are done and managed at our residential area with the address stated above. We want to increase our output, which can help us able to produce enough food for the whole community. Our family number keeps rising, which means more food is required in variety. We now feed over 200 people a day. For all these people to feel full and survive on a full stomach, there is a need for more food. Since the assistance of food does not only mean we feed, but also requires money to run other errands to keep the organisation going. The Organisation seeks to increase its yield and sell to the interested consumer for profits to sustain the Organisation.
We have other projects such as the soccer team (Golden Tigers) and knitting. Our soccer team has made us proud, and it is still growing. We are want to keep the soccer team growing and helping the boys find their way in the football world and spend less time with idle minds. We also hope to create a soccer team for women soon. Furthermore, we intend to revive our knitting club for women whilst including men. The knitting club had been suspended, but we intend to restore it this year with better ideas to catch the eyes of many interested people.

The Organisation would like first to thank the donors and the supporting stakeholders of the community. We hope to continue working together to serve the community and its people for the best interest of humankind.
